TA Initial Renewal

Requirements

  1. Paid application on file: How to Apply for a TA Certificate
  2. Conferral of a High School Diploma or GED
    • Please Note: Online and home school diplomas are not acceptable
    • This was already verified when you obtained your Initial TA certificate. You do NOT need to send it again.
  3. A passing score on the Ìýor the ATAS exam.
    • You have already passed this exam and do not need to take it again. Your scores will be carried over to the Renewal application.
  4. All workshops required for certification.
    • Any workshops that you have already completed will be carried over to this application.ÌýYou must check for any new or updated workshops that may be required at the time of your application.
  5. Fingerprint clearance
    • You have already completed this requirement and do not need to be fingerprinted again.
  6. Completion of 100 hours of Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE)
    • You will attest to having completed these hours when you apply for the Initial TA Renewal.

How many times can I renew the Initial TA certificate?

You can renew the certificate as many times as you would like.

What happens if I let my Initial TA certificate lapse or expire? Can I still get a Renewal?

Yes! You can apply for a Renewal even if your TA certificate has lapsed or expired. The Renewal will be valid from the day it is issued.

Where do I send my CTLE completion certificates?

You will not send in any evidence of CTLE; you must keep the completion certificates and be able to produce them in the event you are audited.

My TA Level I certificate is about to expire; can I apply for this Renewal?

No, you would need to apply for the Initial TA Certificate, then move to the Renewal when you near the five-year expiration date.
