Teaching Assistant Level II Certificate
Valid for 3 years
If you haveÌýNEVERÌýheld a 51³Ô¹ÏÍø State Teaching Assistant Certificate, you must start by pursuing the Initial TA Certificate.
- EXCEPTION:ÌýIf you have at least one year of teaching experience in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø as a classroom teacher under a NYS classroom teaching certificate, you may proceed to TA Level III.
Requirements
A Level II certificate can only be issued once.
In addition to the requirements for the Level I, you must have:
- College coursework -Ìý9Ìýsemester hours
- Note:ÌýLife Experience Credit (also known as life credit) is not acceptable for certification purposes, regardless of the policy of an individual college/university.
- Verified Experience as a Teaching Assistant - 1 Year
- Experience must be completed in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø underÌýany valid TA certificateÌý(e.g., Level I/II/III; Level I Renewal; Initial; Initial TA Renewal; Temporary; Continuing; Emergency COVID-19)
- Verification of paid experience must be submitted directly by the employer(s). NYS public schools, BOCES and NYS charter schools must submit verifications by entering an electronic Superintendent Statement ("TA Professional 3 Yr. Exp.") onto your TEACH account.
