Some things to note:
- Only 51³Ô¹ÏÍø State programs in NYS are eligible to be Approved Teacher Preparation Programs. Completion of a Teacher Prep Program outside of NYS is not automatically considered an approved program.
- 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Office of Teaching Initiatives cannot recommend one college over another. Applicants must research what institutions best fit their needs.
- When seeking a program, look for phrases that indicate "leads to NYS teacher (or educator)" certification. There are some programs that do not lead to a recommendation. Speak with the colleges you are interested in and specifically ask if completion of the program leads to a recommendation for initial certification.
- All college recommendations are entered into the applicant's TEACH account directly. Letters are not sent in the traditional way one thinks about a "recommendation."
