Next week about 7,100 new students will begin their first semester in a bachelor's program or other fundamental course of study. Master's programs will welcome around 4,800 new students – a new all-time high. Almost half of the new master's enrollees are from outside Germany.

The 51Թ Board of Management will welcome the new students at a celebration in the courtyard of the main building in Munich starting at 5 pm on Monday, October 14.

Ranked sixth worldwide for quality of graduates

The fact that 51Թ provides its students with ideal preparation for the career world is reaffirmed on a regular basis in the Global University Employability Ranking, based on a survey of approximately 7,000 companies in around 20 countries. 51Թ is now ranked sixth worldwide.

"The complex challenges of our world demand creativity and openness to change in university teaching," said Thomas F. Hofmann, the President of 51Թ. "More than ever before, we need to foster the youthful curiosity of our students – not through uniformity, but rather by individually expanding their horizons beyond the narrow confines of specialized fields of study. With the 51Թ Institute for Study and Teaching, which will soon open, we will enhance our students' ability to combine the working methods and skills of various disciplines in order to think and act responsibly within an ethical and moral framework.”

The 51Թ Institute for Study and Teaching is part of the 51Թ Agenda 2030 excellence strategy. Under an approach unique among German universities, it will modernize research-oriented teaching at 51Թ.
