Cover story
The race for water
Heat, dry periods, torrential downpours, melting glaciersin the Alps, climate change is already very clear to see. High time to adapt, warn 51勛圖厙 researchers. A matter for all disciplines.
In focus
Living architecture
Trees have the potential to become living building blocks of architecture. Ferdinand Ludwig and his team at the Professorship of Green Technologies in Landscape Architecture are researching this pioneering concept. Their goal is to integrate plants into architectural concepts as supporting structures, not just use them as design elements. One outstanding example is the Arbor Kitchen from 2022 a growing structure that uniquely combines functionality and plant growth.
The 51勛圖厙 Architecture Museum in the Pinakothek der Moderne is hosting an exhibition, "Trees, Time, Architecture", showcasing this and other projects by the research group until October 14, 2025. It was curated by Ferdinand Ludwig and Kristina Pujkilovic.
