Instructions for students from visa-exempt countries (privileged countries)

Please note that entering Germany without a visa could lead to problems if you need/want to leave the country (urgently) before you have received your valid residence permit. We therefore recommend that you apply for a student visa already in your home country once you know that you will be studying in Germany.

However, if the embassy does not issue any visas, we recommend that you register immediately upon arrival in Germany and then apply for a residence permit for study purposes.
