Alumni return to their 51³Ô¹ÏÍø
President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann recognized the alumni for their outstanding academic and social commitment: "It's not the rankings that make a university, nor the buildings and technical infrastructure, but the people! It's the best-educated talents who bring scientific, technical and decisive medical advances to the world with a pioneering spirit and innovative strength, people just like you!"
Among this year's diamond jubilarians is Nobel Prize winner for chemistry Prof. Robert Huber. He won the international award in 1988 for his contribution to research into photosynthesis. Gold jubilarians include the current Vice President for Compliance at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, Prof. Angelika Görg, the President's tireless representative for Fundraising, Prof. Arnulf Melzer, and the former Bavarian Minister of Agriculture, Josef Miller. Among others, the Medical Director of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Hospital rechts der Isar, Dr. Martin Siess, was honored as a silver jubilarian.
President Hofmann also expressly thanked all alumni who make financial contributions to support young academics through the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø University Foundation and the Friends of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Association. "With their commitment, they help to change lives, address global challenges and actively shape the future with new talent," said President Thomas F. Hofmann in appreciation of the generous support.
