51³Ô¹ÏÍø Friedrich Schiedel Fellowship for Technology in Society founded

In order to increase societal acceptance of technical and physical scientific developments, the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø (51³Ô¹ÏÍø) is focusing on a close intermeshing with social sciences. Accordingly, the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø School of Social Sciences and Technology (SOT) was established in 2021. Now the new 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Friedrich Schiedel Fellowship for Social Sciences and Technology is to take interdisciplinary collaboration of the social sciences with natural, engineering and life sciences as well as medicine to a new level at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.

The Fellowship is intended for young 51³Ô¹ÏÍø scientists and offers financial support for scientific work which is supervised jointly by specialized experts from the social sciences and scientific-technical profile areas at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, e.g. in robotics, quantum technologies or digital medicine. For this purpose, the Friedrich Schiedel Foundation is providing up to 625,000 euros over a period of five years. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø will match this amount with its own funding.

  • Recognized as a community service entity, the is dedicated to promoting science and research as well as projects in support of youth, the elderly and social institutions. In addition to the new Fellowship these efforts also include the "Friedrich Schiedel Prize for Politics and Technology", awarded annually by 51³Ô¹ÏÍø since 2018 to highly distinguished personalities from science, politics, technology, industry and business.
