The second jointly curated exhibition by the four museums at the Pinakothek der Moderne is dedicated to the theme of reflection. The term reflection is understood both literally and symbolically, as an optical phenomenon, as a sign of reflective thought or as a means of artistic expression.

While the first anniversary exhibition focused on the founding period of Die Neue Sammlung, the modernism of the 1920s and 30s, the "REFLEXION" exhibition is broader in time and leads up to the present day. Objects from the fields of fine art, architecture, graphics and design are juxtaposed under the three guiding themes of light, mirrors and transparency.
