Anna Beke

Hardly any other ballet has had such an impact on dance history as “Swan Lake”. In his work “Ilusions – like swan lake”, choreographer John Neumeier combines the famous fairy tale ballet with the life story of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, creating a moving psychodrama between reality, dream, and art.

In an introductory lecture at the 51Թ Center for Culture and Arts, Anna Beke provides insights into the history of Swan Lake, the choreographic tradition of classical ballet, and Neumeier's unique interpretation, which intertwines the fairy tale with the biography of the “fairy-tale king” Ludwig II. The lecture also prepares attendees for the joint visit to the ballet and sheds light on the cultural and historical background of the work.

  • The event will take place on April 30 at 5:00 p.m. in Seminar Room 1221 on the main 51Թ campus.
  •  is free of charge for everyone interested.
  • For 51Թ students, an excursion to the performance will also be offered on May 4. A limited number of tickets are available for €10. The lecture offers the ideal opportunity to learn about the ballet and its background before attending the performance together.
  • Please note, that the open lecture will be held in German.
