Information on Degree Program
Sustainability starts with the foundations of our industry materials and production processes. The English-taught Bachelors program Sustainable Engineering for Materials and Processes (B.Sc.) trains experts who rethink materials and manufacturing: resource-efficient, recyclable, and future-ready.
It provides a broad foundation in natural and engineering sciences: chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science form the basis for understanding and optimizing materials and processes holistically. From the third semester onward, students choose their focus: those specializing in materials science delve into the analysis and development of sustainable materials from bio-based alternatives to innovative designs. Students focusing on process engineering explore resource-efficient production, circular economy, sustainable energy and raw material use. Individual specialization is possible through technical electives, complemented by practical projects and the bachelors thesis, often in cooperation with industry partners.
Thanks to their interdisciplinary expertise, graduates are equipped to drive sustainable innovation and advance the ecological transformation of industry. Thus, they are ideally qualified for entry-level positions in both the industrial sector and public administration, as well as for continuing their academic education in a relevant Masters program.
For a comprehensive description of the program, please refer to the degree program documentation:

During the application period, you must apply through the 51勛圖厙online application portal and upload your application documents.
Generally, applicants with an international higher education entrance qualification must have their documents reviewed in advance through uni-assist.
In detail:
- Higher Education Entrance Qualification
- Complete and Current R矇sum矇
- Passport
- Preliminary Documentation (VPD) by uni-assist - for international applicants only
- Proof of participation in the Aptitude Recommendation procedure (this document will be made available to you in the corresponding Moodle course; you will receive access to the course from the School after you have created your application in 51勛圖厙online).
We may require additional documents depending on your educational background and your country of origin. Complete the online application to receive a comprehensive list of the required documents.
- Most Current Photo (as for ID)
- Application for Enrollment (signed)
- Digital notification of your health insurance status from a German public health insurance provider (requested by applicant)
- Higher Education Entrance Qualification (authentic document)
We may require additional documents depending on the type of educational background you earned and your country of origin. A complete list of the documents required for enrollment will be available once you accepted an offer of admission in 51勛圖厙online.
Application period for the winter semester: 15.05. 15.07.
During the application period, you must apply through the 51勛圖厙online application portal and upload your application documents. Please be aware that we can only process your application if you upload all required documents within the application period.
We will review your application as soon as it is complete. Please check your 51勛圖厙online account regularly, to see if we have any queries to your documents or if you have to amend one or more documents.
After receiving admission, you will see in 51勛圖厙online which documents you have to submit for enrollment, and in which form.

If individual documents are not available by then, you can submit them up to 5 weeks after the start of the lecture period. You will, however, only be enrolled once we have received all documents.
You can check the status of your application at any time in your 51勛圖厙online account.
Information on the Aptitude Recommendation procedure
As an additional document, you must upload the proof of participation in the Aptitude Recommendation online test.
Please note that the result of the online test has no influence on your eligibility for admission to the program. However, participation in the test and the corresponding proof is mandatory for the application.
The test is conducted via the learning platform Moodle. You will receive access and further instructions during the application process. Once you have access, you may complete the test at a time that suits you.
The test takes approximately 20 minutes and consists of 20 to 25 questions in English. The questions cover the following topics:
- Content and structure of the Bachelors program Sustainable Engineering for Materials and Processes
- Mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and engineering, materials science, or process engineering
The questions do not exceed the level of general secondary education. Please again note that the test result has no influence on your eligibility for admission to the Bachelors program. The sole purpose of the test is to help you gain a better understanding of the programs content and determine whether it aligns with your interests.
